SILVER SPRING, Md. — [May 1, 2025] — The Gypsum Association is pleased to announce the addition of Christian Chinsio as its new director of codes, standards and research starting May 1. With more than 25 years of experience in quality management, technical services, and product development within the gypsum and building materials industry, Chinsio brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the association.
Chinsio most recently served as gypsum panels product manager and quality council coordinator at CertainTeed Interior Products Group, where he managed product rationalization, led competitive testing, and championed quality improvement initiatives across multiple U.S. plants. He also represented CertainTeed at ASTM and on the Gypsum Association’s Building Code and Technical Committee, reflecting his long-standing commitment to industry collaboration and standards development.
Prior to that, he held multiple senior roles at CertainTeed Gypsum, Continental Building Products, and Lafarge North America where he led efforts in product compliance, technical documentation, customer technical support, and performance testing. His leadership extended to national and international code bodies, including service as chair of the ASTM C11.01 subcommittee, chair of the Quality Council, and active participation in ICC code hearings.

Chinsio will play a key role in supporting the association’s technical and code compliance initiatives, working closely with member companies and industry partners to uphold and enhance performance standards.
Chinsio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Florida State University and resides in St. Augustine, Florida.
