GA Offers Live Lunch and Learn for Building Code Officials

In April, the Gypsum Association presented a new live education session at a lunch and learn for code officials in the state of Oregon. Attendees from numerous jurisdictions logged in for the course which was offered via video conference. A Guide to Gypsum Association Code Referenced and Online Resources (ICC PPP Course number 36274) provides code officials with .10 ICC Continuing Education Units. More than 50 code officials gathered in-person and virtually to learn more about the GA’s offerings.

Led by GA Technical and Market Advisor Greg Woolley, LEED Green Assoc., the presentation reviewed the essentials of gypsum panel products, especially the fire-resistant properties these panels provide in fire-rated assemblies. Attendees gained familiarity with the Gypsum Association’s code referenced documents, namely, GA-600 Fire Resistance and Sound Control Design Manual, GA-216 Application and Finishing of Gypsum Panel Products, and GA-253 Application of Gypsum Sheathing. Greg also highlighted other resources of interest to code officials, all of which are available at gypsum.org.

Although Greg attends numerous building code events throughout the year, the opportunity to speak at a lunch and learn was welcome. If you would like to engage Greg for your lunch and learn program, contact him at gwhoolley@gypsum.org
