The Gypsum Association (GA) recently expanded its educational outreach through an accredited course led by Greg Woolley at the Idaho
Association of Building Officials’ (IDABO) 2026 Education Institute. This session provided building and code professionals with 0.3 ICC CEUs and 3 AIA HSW credits, focusing specifically on the proper installation of gypsum panels and their vital role in fire resistance and sound control. Christian Chinsio, the GA’s Director of Codes, Standards, and Research, supported the event remotely by contributing his expertise during the technical Q&A session.
Following the IDABO event, the GA is now collaborating with IDABO Executive Director Ginger Bidegaray to develop a one-hour “lunch and learn” webinar scheduled for later in 2026.
“Working with IDABO is important because their events bring together a broad range of stakeholders, including code officials, contractors, fire marshals, and state representatives, all focused on maintaining high standards of life safety,” said Greg Woolley. “The GA remains committed to providing a personable experience through its Technical Services Team for those seeking specialized knowledge on gypsum panel applications.”
IDABO’s Education Institute is just one of many events the GA technical team attends throughout the year to educate fire safety and code officials, architects, contractors and other industry groups on the GA’s extensive gypsum‑related code resources and technical guidance.
GA courses focus on clear, code‑referenced guidance related to fire resistance and sound control, using key publications such as GA‑600 Fire Resistance and Sound Control Design Manual and GA‑216 Application and Finishing of Gypsum Panel Products, each widely referenced across the A/E/C realm.
