Outreach and Education

While “back to normal” remains elusive in these pandemic-constricted times, GA Technical and Market Advisor Greg Woolley has been able to attend some in-person events and to continue to provide virtual training to ICC Chapters.

In mid-September, Greg traveled to Stowe, Vermont, to attend the National Association of State Fire Marshals 31st Annual Fire Prevention & Safety Symposium. Greg’s booth at the symposium was a busy spot. Attendees asked numerous questions and Greg pointed to the GA standards that provide the answers, including revised code-referenced publications: GA-600-2021 Fire Resistance and Sound Control Design Manual, GA-216-2021 Application and Finishing of Gypsum Panel Products, and GA-253-2021 Application of Gypsum Sheathing.

Early October found Greg back at his desk leading a one-hour course for the Southern Florida Building Officials Association. Nearly 20 building officials learned about the Association’s flagship publication GA-600 Fire Resistance and Sound Control Design Manual. Wish you could earn credit while learning about GA resources? Next on Greg’s schedule is the Upper Great Plains Region III Educational Institute. This ICC region includes Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and the institute is being held Minneapolis, MN, courtesy of Association of Minnesota Building Officials Chapter of ICC. As a result, building officials from five states will have the opportunity to learn the essentials of gypsum panel products, especially the fire-resistant properties these panels provide. Greg will cover all of the code-referenced Association standards–either in person or remotely depending on the needs of the Institute.

June 6 – 9, 2022, Greg will attend the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Conference and Expo in Boston, Massachusetts. This will be the second time Greg has attended an event he calls “a great way to meet fire professional and updated them on our offerings.”
