Use of adhesive typically permits fasteners to be spaced farther apart than in a non-adhesive application. For example, a single-layer nail application to wood framing members without adhesive requires nails to be spaced not more than 8 inches on center. The same installation with nails and adhesive will permit fasteners to be spaced at 24 inches on center. In addition, some adhesives require only supplemental fasteners or permit application without any fasteners. The manufacturer of the adhesive should be consulted to determine appropriate fastening requirements.
