Live GA Education for Code Officials

Despite the pandemic, the Gypsum Association is beginning to realize a longtime goal: Providing educational sessions for regional code bodies. A Guide to Gypsum Association Code Referenced and Online Resources was presented to the ICC Upper Great Plains Region in February by GA Technical and Market Advisor Greg Woolley. Read more

 

 

Revised Code Referenced Publications Released in June

Revised on a three year basis, GA-600 Fire Resistance and Sound Control Design Manual has been referenced by the model building codes as a source of fire resistive designs for more than 40 years. The 2021 edition of this flagship publication was released in June along with GA-216-2021 Application and Finishing of Gypsum Panel Products, and GA-253-2021 Application of Gypsum Sheathing. Gypsum Association Sponsors Recycling Research

The Gypsum Association is partnering with Divert Nova Scotia to support research evaluating the use gypsum powder derived from waste drywall in concrete. Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, is performing the work, which is in Phase II. Read More.

 

 

New Course Available for AIA Credit

The Gypsum Association has added another online continuing professional education course for AIA credit: Specification, Installation, and Use of Special Performance Gypsum Panels. Register or take the course for one AIA LU here.

 

 

New Course Available for ICC Credit

Code officials can earn .10 CEUs in the specialty “Building” by taking Specification, Installation, and Use of Special Performance Gypsum Panels. Register or take the course here.

 

 

Revised EPD for Glass Mat Gypsum Panels

In accordance with the five-year revision cycle for life-cycle studies, the GA has published a new industry average, Type III environmental product declaration (EPD) for glass mat gypsum panels. Based on a new life-cycle assessment, the EPD will provide updated environmental performance information for glass mat panels. Download the EPD here.
